The Miracle League of El Paso has been working on expanding the types of sports we have available for individuals to play. That way there are more options for different sports, staying busy, while having fun and socializing throughout the year. We now have available bowling, soccer, basketball, and kickball.
Bowling
Our bowling program takes place at Oasis Lanes 1660 N. Zaragosa, every Thursday night at 6:30pm. Participants can bowl for one dollar per game. The fee for the rental shoes is waived. This program is not affiliated with Special Olympics and is open to any person with disabilities. For more information contact the Miracle League office (915)779-4770.
Soccer
We partnered recently with the Paso Del Norte Soccer Association to provide TOP soccer to individuals with disabilities. Registration has already begun for the season that will start up March 4, 2012. The cost is $5 per person. The games will take place on Sunday afternoons at the Junior League of El Paso’s Field of Miracles complex in Ponder Park. Basketball
We have collaborated with the YMCA to create a basketball league at the Church of the Nazarene, 2520 Silver Ave., corner of Alabama and Gold. Basketball will take place Saturday mornings and begin May 5, 2012 through June 23, 2012. It will be a total of seven weeks, skipping Memorial Day weekend May 26, 2012. The cost to participate is $25 per player; it includes seven weeks of basketball instruction, shirts, and end of camp recognition. Boys and girls of all ages are welcomed; players will be divided into peer groups after registration. Kickball
Kickball is run in the off season of baseball. Sign up is in April and October here at the Miracle League Field. Fees run $20 per player, which includes a t-shirt. For more information contact Richard at (915)443-3703.
